Lavinia

Lavinia is a fox who lives in the forest but occasionally likes to go into populated areas to see how we live. She dresses like a traditional fox and likes natural jewellery. She is good natured and will look after those who have taken a liking to her.

The artwork is 32cm tall including the base. I have used wire armature and wool of many colours to create this sculpture. No filler was used. I have given Lavinia a fluffy tail and captivating green glass eyes. She has a beautiful embroidered cotton dress and necklace. She is attached to a natural wooden base which is decorated with realistic woollen grass. So that the base does not damage furniture, I have protected the bottom with felt.

Kassadi

not available

Kassadi is an OOAK hand sculpted witch doll. She has been sculpted from clay over an armature and is not poseable. Height - 35cm without hat. She has been painted with acrylic paints. I have given her skin texture to make it appear more lifelike. The doll has been sealed with matt varnish for protection, and with gloss varnish on her eyes, lips and nails. Kassadi's clothing has been sewn over the finished doll and cannot be removed. I make my own wigs, this one was made using cotton for the cap and shiny synthetic hair. The finished wig was glued to Kassadi's head and shouldn't be removed.

Everything that Kassadi has was made by me especially for her. She has white cotton underpants underneath her robes that are fastened with a cord. Then she has a green dress decorated with gold-coloured thread. On top of which, she is wearing a robe that fastens with a natural cord. The dress and robe cannot be removed because they were sewn over the finished doll. I have made a health potion (red) and mana potion (blue) which are attached to her belt. I made a pointed hat for her which matches her robe. The hat has an old spell attached to it for use in emergencies. The hat fastens to her hair at the back with a natural cord. It can be taken off and put back on. She has genuine leather shoes with small heels that help her to stand without assistance. I have made a magic staff for Kassadi which contains a crystal. It is made of clay and was protected with varnish. Finally, I made an amulet for extra protection. The amulet cannot be removed because it was fixed over the finished doll.

Baba Yaga

not available

This is an OOAK hand sculpted doll. She has been sculpted completely from Super Sculpey over an armature and is not posable. Height - 16cm. She has been painted with acrylic paints which are not waterproof. I have added varnish to the lips, eyes and nails. Baba Yaga's clothing has been sewn over the finished doll and cannot be removed. I have used beautiful grey mohair to make her hair. The hair and kerchief have been glued to Baba Yaga's head and shouldn't be removed.

Baba Yaga has cotton pants, dress, apron, vest and kerchief. I have woven some traditional shoes for her using synthetic straw. She has a cane made from paperclay. I have made a slanted wooden stand which helps her to stand up, she cannot stand on a straight surface. The stand is not attached to Baba Yaga, she can be taken off and put back on it. All of this is included.

Baba Yaga is a mysterious old lady who has magical powers and lives in a forest far from people. My Baba Yaga is friendly and maybe a little bit cunning.

I used Super Sculpey clay (which requires baking) to make Baba Yaga. This type of clay has a tendency for "half-moons" to appear after baking. They are the white semicircles visible on the clay. Baba Yaga also sustained a crack in her left elbow joint during baking. This can be seen in the photograph below (shown from the front and back).
